WORSHIP AND PROVISION

Worship and Provision

We had our annual church conference last week (10th-17th March) and the theme was Mind-Shift which was based on the 2019 theme which is Reset and Reposition. The sermons were really eye opening and with revelations which I just had to share. The guests were Bishop Kyula of Purpose Center and Pastor Muriithi from Mavuno Church. Bishop Kyula was ministering on Worshipping God and Provision. The teachings, full of insight, helped us grow both spiritually and financially and I’m here to share that. In his sermon on worship, he said worship is an act of obedience. It is action. It is a response.

In Genesis 22, God commands Abraham to sacrifice Isaac to show His obedience to God. Abraham doesn’t hesitate. The day of the sacrificial giving, he goes the hill with Isaac together with his servants. Abraham leaves the servants at the bottom and says in verse 5, …and WE WILL come back to you (after giving the sacrifice). This already shows the faith Abraham had in God that provision would be found at the altar. On their way up, Isaac asks the father where the sacrifice is and Abraham says the Lord will provide. As Abraham is about to slaughter his son, a ram is on the other side of the hill. That becomes the sacrifice instead of his only son, Isaac. That is why Abraham calls God, Jehovah Jireh (Hebrew term meaning, The Lord Will Provide).

Now this ram did not appear magically. It took each step of Abraham and Isaac going up the mountain for the ram to take a step up the mountain as well. Every leap of faith to worship God is a step closer to your provision. This is one of the points I took home during this sermon.

Another revelation from this sermon was the symbolism of the sacrifice between Isaac and Jesus. In Genesis 22:6, we see Isaac carrying the wood on his shoulders as he climbs the mountain to be offered as a sacrifice to God by his father Abraham. This context is also seen in John 19:17 where Jesus was carrying His own cross on His shoulders as he was going up the mountain in Golgotha to be offered as a sacrifice. Both Jesus and Isaac knew that God shall provide a sacrifice for Himself. As they were climbing the mountain, taking a leap of faith in God each step, the Lord was preparing the sacrifice on the other side of the mountain. They knew they will not die but will come back down alive. And truly Isaac returned with his father and Jesus descended from the heavens after God made his flesh the lamb to be sacrificed and let His spirit live to be a testimony. This one got me good. Glory!

Faith in God is what gives you strength to carry on, climb the mountain of troubled times, consistent fasting and prayer days, every hardship, you name them. But remember, at the top of the mountain is where the provision is. Don’t give up the faith. God is waiting for you to get to the place of provision by your worship, obedience, patience. We never know the reason for the pain until we get to the top of the mountain. God already knows your needs before you tell Him. He just needs to see your obedience in His Word, your faith in Him and patience in His promises.

Jehovah Jireh, in some other translations means, I saw before you needed. Keep hope alive, God is working it out.

I’ll leave you with a song that blesses me.

Stay Blessed.

GETHSEMANE

One sunny afternoon, (yeah, it was on a very hot day) I met with my two friends for Bible study and I can tell you guys, it's always exciting to share the word and get revelations you had not perceived. It's like finding a key to a treasure room you've been craving to get in to. During the Bible study, we shared about a few things and the story diverted. Our leader was talking about God first mentioning that He is the I AM who I AM to Moses in Exodus 3:14. God was saying to the Israelites that He is (that father, friend, protector, healer, provider, counselor , teacher, etc... yes, all that they would want Him to be,) that, He was. I AM that I AM.  Now fast forward to the New Testament. Mark 14:32-52 When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane and the soldiers came to arrest Him after betrayal by Judas, he said to them; I AM HE. Immediately, everyone fell to the ground. He was completing what He started, He had said to Moses, I AM that I AM, and now, He was pr...

SEEK HIM

I was sharing with some friends today, and we were talking about how you might be living but feel so low, you know? Waking up thankful for another day but see the stagnancy in your life and wonder, what you are doing. Of what benefit is the job you're doing, besides the income of course. You think of your age mates, colleagues, friends, relatives, and start comparing, what are you not doing right since they seem to be progressing and you try but seem to be on hold. I have heard people saying they're tired of their lives, they want to give up. They think dying is their next option, probably the only solution, a rest from everything for good, you know? I listen and I think of myself too, think of when many times I've wanted to give up. Does it get to this? Maybe it's not about suicide, it's just the thought of resting in peace and not waking up again. It could be a solution, but have I exhausted every option?  Sometimes we're too drained to pray, you know...

PURPOSE

Apostle Tengu Yoka of Resurrection Temple preached on a sermon themed  The Deep calls to the Deep. T he sermon was explaining how God created everyone with a specific purpose which must be accomplished but He alone knows it and reveals it at the right time.   Rahab was a prostitute in the days of Joshua during the exodus. Though a prostitute, Rahab helped two spies accomplish their duty and all this was possible because of her stature at that time. During those days, prostitutes in Jericho were forced to live next to the walls surrounding the city. She was able to host the spies at a strategic location and knew God would deliver Jericho into the hands of the Israelites [ Joshua 2:8-11 ].  Rahab's assignment was fulfilled when she helped the people of God spy on their enemies. For this reason she became a woman of honor in her time. The seed which is purpose placed in her by God bore fruits when it was time and all this happened for the Glory of God.  ...
